Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has announced significant updates to their Freedom Fare offerings, set to commence from January 2026. These changes are designed to enhance the booking experience and provide greater value to guests.

Introduction of the Freedom Fare Price Promise

Starting with the launch of the Summer 2026 itineraries, Fred. Olsen introduced the Freedom Fare Price Promise. This initiative encourages guests to book early, assuring them that if the price of an equivalent cabin decreases after booking, they will receive either a complimentary cabin upgrade or onboard credit equivalent to the price difference. This promise applies to Freedom Fares booked within the first four weeks of a cruise going on sale.  

Inclusion of Drinks

On cruises departing from January 2026 onwards: selected house beer by the glass, selected red, white and rosé wine by the glass, and draught soft drinks will be included with your lunch and evening meals. These drinks are available with waiter service only and can be enjoyed in selected venues, including the main, buffet, and speciality restaurants. Non-alcoholic options will also be available

Inclusion of Gratuities in Cruise Fares

For cruises departing from January 2026 onwards, gratuities will be included in the cruise fare. This change means guests will no longer need to budget separately for tips, simplifying the overall cruise experience.

Borealis Designated as an Adults-Only Ship

In response to guest feedback, Fred. Olsen has designated the Borealis as an exclusively adults-only ship starting from 1st January 2026. This decision aims to cater to travelers seeking a more mature cruising environment. Families and multi-generational groups are still welcome aboard the Bolette and Balmoral, which will continue to offer amenities suitable for guests of all ages.  

Enhanced Benefits of Freedom Fares

Freedom Fares continue to offer guests a range of benefits, including the ability to choose cabin grade and number, select dining times and table sizes, and enjoy priority booking for shore tours. With the new Price Promise, guests have added assurance of receiving the best value for their booking.
