On 9 April 2025, MSC Cruises officially christened its newest ship, MSC World America, at the state-of-the-art MSC Miami Cruise Terminal. It is the largest cruise terminal in the world. This event marked a significant milestone in MSC’s expansion into the North American market. 

A Star-Studded Celebration

The ceremony was graced by Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore, who served as the ship’s Godmother. She was joined by actor Orlando Bloom, her co-star in MSC’s new “Let’s Holiday” advertising campaign. The event featured a vibrant drone show, live music, and a gala atmosphere, celebrating the ship’s debut .  

MSC World America: A New Era in Cruising

As the first World Class ship from MSC to sail from the U.S., MSC World America is designed to blend European elegance with American comfort. The ship boasts seven unique districts, each offering diverse dining, entertainment, and leisure options. Notable features include the only Eataly at sea, a Greek-inspired restaurant named Paxos, and a classic American diner, Luna Park Pizza & Burger .   

The ship is powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), reflecting MSC’s commitment to sustainable cruising. It accommodates up to 6,774 guests and offers amenities such as a 104-meter outdoor promenade, multiple pools and jacuzzis, a water park, and various entertainment venues .

Inaugural Voyages

Following the christening, MSC World America embarked on a two-night celebratory sailing to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. Starting on 12 April, 2025, the ship began its inaugural season with alternating seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Destinations include Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic), San Juan (Puerto Rico), Costa Maya and Cozumel (Mexico), and Isla de Roatán (Honduras), with each voyage featuring a visit to Ocean Cay .
