Docking Information

Cruise ships dock directly at the Olden cruise terminal, situated approximately 1 km north of the village centre. The terminal can accommodate one ship at a time, with additional vessels anchoring in the fjord when necessary.

The port area offers basic facilities, including a tourist information point, souvenir shops, and a few cafes.

Exploring Olden Village

A leisurely 15-minute walk from the port brings you to Olden village, home to around 500 residents. Despite its small size, the village boasts charming wooden houses, two picturesque churches, and a selection of shops and cafes.

  • Old Olden Church (1759): A historic wooden church with a beautifully carved altar.
  • Olden Church (1934): A striking red church located near the village centre.
  • Laukifossen Waterfall: A serene waterfall located approximately 2 km south of the village.
  • Floen Lake: A tranquil lake offering scenic views, located about 3 km south of the village.

Briksdal Glacier

  • Distance: Approximately 25 km from Olden.
  • Access: Reachable by coach or “Troll Car” (a small electric vehicle).
  • Experience: A short hike to the glacier lake offers stunning views of the glacier’s blue ice and surrounding landscape.

Briksdal Glacier

Loen Skylift

  • Location: About 6 km from Olden.
  • Experience: One of the world’s steepest cable cars, taking you to the summit of Mount Hoven (1,101 metres) in just five minutes. At the top, enjoy panoramic views of the fjord and surrounding mountains.

RIB Boat Adventure

  • Experience: Embark on a high-speed RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) tour through the fjord, offering close-up views of waterfalls, wildlife, and dramatic landscapes.

Huaren Viewpoint

  • Access: Reachable by guided tour or hiking.
  • Experience: A breathtaking viewpoint offering panoramic vistas of the fjord and surrounding mountains.

Oldevatnet Lake

  • Distance: Approximately 10 km from Olden.
  • Experience: A serene lake surrounded by lush greenery and towering peaks, perfect for a peaceful walk or picnic.

Singerheimen

  • Location: In the village centre.
  • Experience: The former home of American artist William Singer, now a museum showcasing his artwork and offering insights into local history.
